How To Make Back Up Of Start Screen In Windows 8/8.1

Start Screen is the most favorite part of Windows 8 or 8.1. When you got the first Windows 8 or 8.1 then you might be excited to use it. You just love to customize it. Like favorite app one side, Document view software in one column. Games are one other side. I just love to do it. Even every person loves to do it. Customizing Windows 8 or 8.1 Start Screen is a nice thing. I really like customizing my Windows 8 start screen. I just keep everything is a proper way on the Start screen of my Windows 8 or 8.1. But yesterday I got a problem while installing a game and I found out that my properly customized start screen goes wrong. Yea the Start screen layout of my windows 8/8.1 was not before the game installation.

Start Screen Back Up

It was very bad for me to rearrange all the apps and software shortcut on my Start Screen. I really hate this. As the sometime customizing start screen is not an easy job. Then I thought is there any way to make back up of Start Screen in Windows 8/8.1? I searched in internet and I got an awesome way to keep a backup of Windows 8/8.1 Start screen layout. This trick will help you to make back up of start screen in Windows 8/8.1. As whatever goes wrong in your PC you can restore the Start screen layout in Windows 8/8.1 using the backup that you previously make. So here is a trick to make back up of start screen in Windows 8/8.1.

How To Make Back Up Of Start Screen In Windows 8/8.1?

Step 1: Open Windows Explorer

Step 2: Now copy paste the bellow line in address bad to open a new folder location

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows

Step 3: Now copy these files, “appsFolder.itemdata-ms” and “appsfolder.itemdata-ms.bak” to make back up of Start Screen.

 

Now, whenever you need to restore the start screen layout just open open the folder location in Step: 2 and copy paste and replace the two files that you copied in Step 3.
