WhatsApp Launches in-built fingerprint App Lock Feature-How to get it

WhatsApp Fingerprint lock

Like Facebook, WhatsApp has become our integral part of privacy that’s why many of us use third-party app locker or System App Lock feature which is not available in Stock Android OS. Giving this a big concern WhatsApp has lunched integrated in-built fingerprint app lock feature to keep your WhatsApp as private as you want.

It is very evident that fingerprint scanner becomes a base feature of any Android phone and all most every Android available in the market has this hardware specification. Going through the flow WhatsApp has nicely implemented this inbuilt fingerprint lock feature mean now you can unlock your WhatsApp just by putting your finger on your fingerprint scanner.

So how is this inbuilt fingerprint lock feature different from System App lock Feature?

This is a quite normal and obvious question arising in your mind. At first glance, this feature does not seems interesting. We all use system app lock feature to lock our private apps like Facebook, Mail, Banking & Financial App and even we keep our Gallery lock. And the same way we used to keep our WhatsApp lock. But the frequency of using WhatsApp is much higher than other apps.

Here system app lock feature fails to lock your WhatsApp or struggles to unlock at the urgent moment. If your phone does not have superior CPU or processing capability or lacks RAM management then this is a big issue.

But this all-new integrated fingerprint app lock feature in WhatsApp is fast smooth and effective. You can set the time duration to lock the WhatsApp once you switch to another app or go to the home screen. Don’t need to remove WhatsApp from background running apps to lock it. As much as you have calibrated, WhatsApp will automatically lock itself.

How to enable WhatsApp Fingerprint App Lock feature?

In order to get this feature, you should have WhatsApp version 2.19.222 or above. You can download WhatsApp version 2.19.222 from the given download link at the end of this article.

Here are the steps you need to follow to get this fingerprint app lock feature on your WhatsApp

  1. Tap on the three dots
  2. Tap on Settings>>Account>>Privacy
  3. Now scroll down and you will have Fingerprint Lock, just tap on it
  4. Enable Unlock with fingerprint.
  5. It will ask to put your finger on the fingerprint scanner for the first-time configuration.
  6. Set the Automatically Lock Immediately, After 1 minute or After 30 minutes.
  7. You can enable or disable show content notifications as per your privacy.
  8. Now you are done. Go back to the main menu

WhatsApp will automatically lock it as per your configured time duration. When you will open WhatsApp it will ask for fingerprint, just put that recorded finger to open it in a fraction of second. I have to admit it that unlocking is very fast than the System app lock feature. This feature still in beta so we are looking forward to a stable update of this feature.
