Frankly speaking a part of our life. You can tell one kind of asset. From your first day of join Facebook to become Graduate, getting married or become a father or mother, Facebook depicted everything on your timeline. Not only these happy moments but the sad one also, your status update after you break up with your partner or missed a job by few marks or your loved one passed away. Life has ups and downs and Facebook is just a mirror image of it.
That’s why we love our own Facebook account. But have you pondered over what will happen to your Facebook account why you will die? Hardly people think over it and its normal. Why should we think about this bad idea. But in case you think over it, then Facebook has the same answer like What You Will Do With Your Google Account When You Will Die??
So What will happen to your Facebook account if You die?
Facebook has two options in this scenario, either you can hand over your Facebook account to your legacy contact or it will be permanently deleted.
Now What is a Facebook legacy contact?
Facebook Legacy Contact is someone you choose to look after your account if you pass away. If you choose your closest friend or your family member as a legacy contact then he or she can pin a post for your profile, respond the friend request or change the profile picture or cover photo without log into your profile. You also have the option to allow your legacy contact to download a copy of what you’ve shared on Facebook like photos, video excluding your chat conversation. That’s pretty nice as a chat conversation is really personal.
So how to make someone your Facebook Legacy Contact or how to add a legacy contact?
To add a legacy contact:
- Click
in the top right of Facebook and select Settings - In the left menu, click Security
- Click Legacy Contact
- Type in a friend’s name and click Add
- To let your friend know they’re now your legacy contact, click Send
You can tick the check box of Data Archive Permission if you want him to download a copy of your Facebook files.
That’s why you must add Facebook legacy contact on your Facebook profile. If you want that your Facebook profile will be deleted if you pass away then just tick the check box of Account Deletion. This feature will permanently delete your Facebook profile, if you pass away.
So which option is better for you. You can see I have added my best buddy as a Legacy Contact of my Facebook profile, do comment what you opted for. Last of all hope this thing comes as late as possible.
