How to Root Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime SM-G610F/SM-G610M [Android 7.0]

Previously I have posted how to root Samsung J7 Prime and some of the people successfully rooted their Samsung J7 Prime while some people face the problem. This is due to the Android version. That post was for Android 6.0 Marshmellow. So if you are using Samsung J7 Prime Android 7.0 or Nougat version then you need to try this method. Though the basic method is same still I have created this separate post so that you don’t get confused. In this article, I will show how to root Samsung J7 Prime (2016) for Android 7.0. This method applicable for both SM-G610F/SM-G610M.

How To Root Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime Android 7.0

Note: This method works on Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime M-G610F / SM-G610M | v7.0 models only. Make a backup of all files including APK, contacts, SMS etc. As the root process will format your device. Make sure your phone has minimum 50% battery.

A. Download tools

1. Odin3_v3.11.1 (Unzip it)

2. Samsung Kies

3. ROOT J7 Prime(2016).zip (Unzip it)

B. Enable Developer Option

  1. Go to Settings>>About Phone>>
  2. Then tap ‘Build number’ 7 times or until you get the message ‘You’re now a developer!’
  3. Go back to Settings, choose ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘USB debugging’ option and enable it.
  4. In the ‘Developer Option’ you will also find the ‘OEM Unlocking’ option, just enable it.
  5. Make sure you don’t have Factory Reset Protection enabled in your Google account or you may never be able to boot again!

C. Install Samsung Kies or Driver

Install the Samsung Kies and restart your PC, then connect your Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime with USB cable. If a pop-up prompted on your device then check “Always allow from this computer” for USB Debugging.It will configure driver automatically.

D. Install CWM Recovery and  root On Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

  1. Run as Administrator the Odin3.exe file
  2. Click on Option and disable Auto Reboot
  3. Click on AP and browse SM-G610F_stock_recovery.tar or SM-G610M_stock_recovery.tar depending on your device model number
  4. Now switch off your Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
  5. Then Press and hold the Power + Volume Down + Home button simultaneously until its screen off and boot into a blue screen showing Warning
  6. Now press Volume UP button to Continue…It will show like this
  7. Now connect your Phone to PC via USB Cable
  8. You will see that first box under ID:COM in odin is shaded mean driver properly installed
  9. Now click on the Start button on Odin
  10. It will few seconds, once its done, you will see green Pass like this
  11. Once the flash is done, Your device will automatically boot into system.
  12. Disconnect your phone from PC and Swicth off your device.
  13. Again Press and hold the Power + Volume Down + Home button simultaneously until its screen off and boot into a blue screen showing Warning
  14. Now press Volume UP button to Continue…It will show like this
  15. Again connect your Phone to PC via USB Cable
  16. On ODIN click on AP and browse SM-G610_cwm.tar and hit the Start button
  17. Your phone will reboot and you will get a warning message that verification failed
  18. Disconnect phone from PC
  19. Here you need to press and hold Vol Up + Vol Down + Power button until its boot
  20. Asap it reboots and again comes to warning message press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons until you reach CWM recovery mode. If you end up in stock recovery, start again from step 1
  21. Again connect your phone to PC via USB
  22. In the CMW Recover use Volume Buttons for navigation and Power Button for Selection.
  23. Move down to “Install zip update package” and then to “Install zip from sideload“.
  24. Now you need to run ROOT.bat file from your PC. [You will get this file is located in the extracted ROOT J7 Prime(2016) zip folder].
  25. It will start rooting your device and it will take some minutes.
  26. Once the process has done go to CWM Recovery and reboot your device.
  27. Your Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has been rooted.

To check whether your Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has root access or not, just go to Google Play store and install Root Checker and run it.
